Four Months....ALREADY!!?

This past Friday marked Fischer's 4-month birthday! He's been using his jumperoo for over a week now, and can officially use the jumperoo and exersaucer at daycare. He's happy playing in them for about 10 to 20 minutes, and then he lets us know it's time for something different! He's a pro at hanging onto anything you put near his hands: toys, clothing, burp cloths or blankets, hair (ouch!).
Last weekend, Joe went up north camping with George and Joess. Fischer and I decided we'd be warmer and more comfy at home, so he and I spent the weekend together. Despite some restless nights--thanks, Buddy--we did very well on our own, thank you very much! We got regular visits from the Crazy Neighbor Lady and enjoyed a walk using the front carrier. This was the first time I had Fischer in it facing out--what a perspective! I think he would've liked our walk to be longer, but my legs were getting sore!
Otherwise, this has been a pretty ordinary week. We've continued Fischer's bedtime rituals, and he wakes one to three times per night. I guess it's just going to take some time. Even at daycare, he's been having sporradic naps--sometimes just an hour or so all day, sometimes a 2 or 3 hour stretch. The other night, when he'd only slept a short time at daycare, we tried (successfully) to extend him to his bedtime by taking out the guitar. He loved it! Chris (the Crazy Neighbor Lady) helped Fischer play his rattle (tambourine), and we even got a movie of her shaking it for him and singing while Fischer giggles through his hiccups!
I went to see Kristy for coffee in Appleton this past week. Flora calls me "Lau" and Fischer "Fiffer". It's so cute to hear her versions of words. I took a pic of the 2 of us--her hair is pink because Sally, her exchange student sister, had crazy hair day and Flora wanted crazy hair, too.
I think we'll get the "go-ahead" from Dr. Hoyer on Monday the 13th at Fischer's next well-baby check to start him on rice cereal. Already it seems as though he needs the next step in bottle nipple for daycare--this past Friday he had to really suck in his cheeks to get the milk out, and it made him pretty frustrated. So I've changed his bottles' nipples from 1's to 2's. We'll see tomorrow if that works out. I'll keep a #1 in my purse just in case it doesn't!

Fischer just continues to grow right before our eyes. We haven't measured his length recently, but when I weighed him yesterday, the scale said 16 lbs. Could it be that he's already doubled his birth weight!? Joe says proudly that I can take credit for that :) because Fischer's breastfed. It must be uncomfortable to grow so quickly--Fischer has been a little quicker to get ornery. He continues to be very talkative and loves people and faces. He always smiles at anyone who takes the time to smile at him!

With his awesome head-holding-up skills, Joe and I have been able to experiment more with how and where we sit with Fischer. He likes to be held facing out on your lap or sitting next to us on the couch. He even enjoys being "airplane boy" held on his belly while we zoom around the house--he holds his head up and with eyebrows high and eyes wide, he takes it all in.

As Fischer continues to explore, everything within his grasp goes right to his mouth. He really is a happy little guy, and we're having a blast introducing him to new sights, sounds, touches, smells and tastes all the time!
